Tick Remedies for Hunting Dogs

tick remediesHunting season means ticks are finding new host. Tick remedies for hunting dogs are really no different than any other dog, however the remedies do vary greatly. From burning them off to covering them with gum, the remedies are as vast as the ticks themselves, but are they effective, and which ones really work.

The best remedies I found are in the form of prevent measures. Some of the steps to take to help battle the little blood sucking critters from harming your dog’s health are to:

1. Use an insecticide that is effective against ticks before going into the woods.

2. When you leave the woods, inspect your dog for the little ticks. Don’t wait until you get home.

3. When you find a tick take action, don’t wait.

The method of tick removal varies, I prefer to use tweezers. Remember never to burn or use topical ointments or solutions to “back a tick out”.

Tick remedies are only as good as their applicators; be good to your pet and remove those little blood sucking critters before they can harm you pet.
